Everyone Needs Foundational Planning

Estate planning is essential for everyone.  A foundational estate plan will ensure that your loved ones are cared for, your specific wishes are carried out, and your assets are preserved.  The process can also help your loved ones avoid unnecessary disagreements about what you would have wanted.

Your Estate Plan Should Be Tailored To You

A common misconception about estate planning is that all estate plans are the same. People often believe that an estate planning attorney simply checks the boxes in a software program and then hands the client a standard form estate planning document. With a good estate planning attorney, there is much more involved.

We understand how daunting the estate planning process can seem. We take great care to thoroughly understand each client's unique situation and work with them to explain their options in a way that is easy to understand and to customize a plan to fit their goals and needs.

What Our Comprehensive Plans Include

All of our plans will include the following four key documents: 1) Revocable Living Trust; 2) Pour-Over Will; 3) Durable Power of Attorney for Finances;  4) Advance Health Care Directive, HIPAA Waiver, Assignment of Property, and Certification of Trust. We will also provide you with other documents to help you better understand your plan, such as diagrams and explanation letters.

Our comprehensive plans also include a draft review meeting prior to signing, so you understand your documents and how they work together.  And, for clients who create a trust, we include a funding meeting after signing to go over your assets and how to get them titled in the name of your new trust.

You will receive your paperwork in a binder containing clearly-labeled index tabs, allowing you and your loved ones quick and easy access to your important documents.

There is no such thing as a "one-size fits all" estate plan. Even with a “simple” estate, it is all too easy to overlook issues that an experienced estate planning attorney would catch. We will work with you to create a comprehensive, customized plan that works best for your situation and meets the needs of your family.
